Guggenheim Abu Dhabi to Open December 11, 2026
The Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi announced that the Guggenheim Abu Dhabi will open its doors on 11 December 2026. The museum, part of the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation’s global network, will occupy an 861,000‑square‑foot building on Saadiyat Island, adjacent to the Louvre Abu Dhabi and other cultural institutions.
Designed by the late architect Frank Gehry, the de‑constructivist structure features a central atrium, 30 galleries, about 125,000 sq ft of interior exhibition space and roughly 250,000 sq ft of outdoor space. The museum will showcase modern and contemporary art from the 1960s to the present, aiming to foster cultural exchange and inspire future generations.
The project is presented as a milestone for Abu Dhabi’s cultural ambition, positioning the Saadiyat Cultural District as a world‑class hub for art and tourism.
