Abu Dhabi’s Department of Culture and Tourism announced that the Guggenheim Abu Dhabi will open to the public on 11 December 2026. The museum will be sited on Saadiyat Island within the Saadiyat Cultural District, alongside the Louvre Abu Dhabi, Zayed National Museum, the Natural History Museum and teamLab Phenomena.
Designed by Pritzker‑prize‑winning architect Frank Gehry, the de‑constructivist building covers roughly 80,000 sq m (861,000 sq ft) and features ten sculptural cones up to 88 m high that provide natural ventilation and shade. Inside, there will be about 30 galleries with 11,600 sq m (125,000 sq ft) of exhibition space, making it the world’s largest Guggenheim museum.
The museum will showcase modern and contemporary art from the 1960s onward, emphasizing artists from West Asia, North Africa and South Asia, and aims to bolster Abu Dhabi’s cultural ambition and tourism by positioning the district as a world‑class art hub.
