Guglielmo Minervini's Legacy Honored by Puglia Regional Council

The Puglia Regional Council marked the tenth anniversary of Guglielmo Minervini’s death (2 August 2016) with a public event titled “Generare futuro – L’eredità di Guglielmo Minervini”. Held on 3 August in the council chamber on Via Gentile in Bari, the day was dedicated to reflecting on Minervini’s contributions as a mayor of Molfetta, regional assessor for youth policies, and a leading figure of the so‑called “primavera pugliese”. Speakers included Council President Toni Matarrelli, Regional President Antonio Decaro, commission chair Felice Spaccavento, Molfetta Mayor Manuel Minervini, and representatives of local civil‑society groups.

Organisers highlighted Minervini’s emphasis on active citizenship, social innovation and youth empowerment, citing initiatives such as the “Bollenti Spiriti” program that treated young people as resources rather than problems. The council framed his political philosophy as a model for current and future democratic institutions in Puglia, urging the new generation to build on his vision of participatory governance.
