In July‑August 2026 a massive forest fire swept through the Gironde department of southwestern France, burning roughly 42,000 hectares of woodland, destroying about 240 houses and forcing the evacuation of around 220,000 residents. Actor‑director Guillaume Canet posted an emotional video urging donations to the French Red Cross, the Fondation de France and the Secours populaire. YouTuber Léna Situations pledged to raise €62,000 for relief, partnering with the brand Asics, and singer‑songwriter Jérémy Frérot also called for aid. Their campaigns have helped channel public generosity toward the affected families and emergency services.
