Morelia International Film Festival announces 24th edition lineup

The 24th edition of the Morelia International Film Festival (FICM) will take place from October 16 to 25, 2026. The festival has announced a robust program featuring 96 competing films, including various short films, documentaries, and feature-length productions.

Major cinematic figures are confirmed to attend, including Guillermo del Toro, Alfonso Cuarón, Juan Antonio Bayona, and James Gray. A central highlight will be a gala screening of the restored version of ‘El laberinto del fauno’ to commemorate its 20th anniversary, with Del Toro expected to attend. The festival will open with the film ‘Campeón gabacho’, directed by Jonás Cuarón and executive produced by Alfonso Cuarón.

The event will be held across multiple venues in Morelia and Pátzcuaro, including Cinépolis locations and local theaters. In addition to the competitive sections, the festival includes training activities, project development laboratories for indigenous and Afro-descendant filmmakers, and tributes to figures such as Janet Alcoriza.
