Guimarães hosts 5,000 scouts at ACAREG Braga 2026 launch

From 3 to 8 August 2026, more than 5,000 members of the Corpo Nacional de Escutas gathered at the Montanha da Penha in Guimarães for the regional scouting camp ACAREG Braga 2026. The event, promoted by the Braga region of the CNE, opened at 21:00 on 3 August with the presence of Minister of Agriculture and Sea José Manuel Fernandes and Archbishop of Braga José Cordeiro.

The camp, themed “Dar com Vida”, brought together 158 scouting groups from across Portugal and abroad, representing 20 municipalities, with a strong female participation and ages ranging from 6 to 76. Activities included outdoor education, group games and a nautical program at the Queimadela reservoir in Fafe. The initiative, funded with a budget exceeding half a million euros, coincides with the Guimarães 26 – Capital Verde Europeia celebrations.
