ACAReg Braga 2026 scouting camp
Overview
In early August 2026 the 90th Acampamento Regional de Braga (ACAReg) was launched on the Penha mountain in Guimarães, Portugal. The opening ceremony on 3 August featured Agriculture and Sea Minister José Manuel Fernandes and Archbishop José Cordeiro, and marked the start of a six‑day program under the motto “Dar com Vida”. More than 5,000 scouts from 158 groups, ranging in age from 6 to 76, gathered for outdoor education, nautical activities at the Queimadela reservoir, workshops and cultural events. The camp, funded with a budget exceeding half a million euros, coincided with Guimarães’ role as European Green Capital 2026 and emphasized sustainability, youth development, and the scouting values of joy, audacity, dedication and sharing. By 8 August the event was in full swing, with speeches from national CNE chief Bento Sousa Lopes, regional chief Catarina Miranda, ACAReg coordinator João Bacelo, and a video greeting from Mayor Ricardo Araújo, reinforcing the city’s commitment to environmental and community goals.
