Guinea and Jospong Group sign waste management partnership
The Government of Guinea and the Jospong Group of Companies (JGC) have signed a public-private partnership agreement to modernize municipal waste management in Conakry. The initiative, implemented through Zoomlion Ghana Limited’s subsidiary, Zoomlion Guinea Integrated Waste Solutions Limited (ZGIWSL), aims to transition the city from a linear disposal model to a circular sanitation economy.
The project focuses on waste recovery, recycling, and resource utilization. Key responsibilities include managing Zone de Tri et de Transit (ZTT) transfer stations, organizing waste collection in major public markets, and overseeing transportation to the Baritodé landfill and future resource-recovery facilities. The company will collaborate with Guinea’s Ministry of Sanitation, Hydraulics and Hydrocarbons and the National Agency for Sanitation and Public Health.
Guinean Prime Minister Amadou Oury Bah described the partnership as a continuation of the historic relationship between Ghana and Guinea. Minister of Sanitation, Hydraulics and Hydrocarbons Aboubacar Camara noted that the agreement marks a turning point for the nation’s sanitation sector, aligning with the vision of President Mamadi Doumbouya.
