Jospong Group waste management expansion in West Africa
Overview
The Jospong Group of Companies, through its subsidiary Zoomlion Ghana Limited, has entered into new waste management agreements with governments in The Gambia and Guinea.
In The Gambia, the government signed a concession agreement to develop the Gambia Integrated Waste Treatment Facilities. The initial phase involves financing, designing, and constructing a Mechanical Biological Treatment plant and transfer stations, alongside municipal waste collection and the decommissioning of existing dumpsites. A second phase is planned to expand services to liquid waste management and additional regions.
In Guinea, a public-private partnership was established to modernize municipal waste management in Conakry. This initiative aims to transition the city toward a circular sanitation economy by focusing on waste recovery, recycling, and resource utilization. The project includes managing transfer stations, organizing waste collection in public markets, and overseeing transportation to the Baritodé landfill.
