Guinea Announces Makeup Baccalaureate Session and Calls for Exam Fraud Law Reform

The Guinean government has scheduled a makeup (rattrapage) session for the 2026 baccalaureate exams, aiming to give candidates who fell short of the passing average a second chance. The measure emphasises technical and professional tracks, with N’faly Condé describing it as "une bonne initiative" and noting that the system was introduced later than intended.

Following the death of a candidate, jurist Boubacar Kegneko Bah urged a review of Guinea’s penal code provisions on exam fraud (articles 686‑688). He argued that dismissing the education minister would not solve the problem and advocated for the repeal of these articles through the new National Assembly, seeking broader legislative reform of the legal framework governing exam fraud.
