Guinea faces administrative confusion over baccalauréat remedial exams

In Guinea, significant administrative confusion has emerged regarding the scheduling and organization of the 2026 baccalauréat remedial exams. Approximately 20,764 students are currently waiting for a confirmed date to sit for these exams, which are essential for their academic orientation before October.

Conflicting information has caused widespread uncertainty. While some calendars suggested exams would take place between August 17 and August 20, the Ministry has since denied these dates without providing an alternative schedule. Furthermore, discrepancies have appeared in candidate lists; some students have vanished from official records entirely, while others face contradictory instructions regarding which subjects they are required to sit for.

The situation has raised questions about the stability of the administration under the new minister, Bintou Keita, and the efficiency of the Direction Générale des Examens, du Contrôle Scolaire, des Concours et Passerelles.
