Guinea hosts CAF delegation to evaluate 2032 or 2036 AFCON bid

A delegation from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) arrived in Guinea to evaluate the country's readiness to host the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in either 2032 or 2036. The mission, which included experts from the CAF Executive Committee, focused on inspecting sports infrastructure, including the 28 Septembre and Nongo stadiums.

Beyond stadiums, the assessment covers essential logistical sectors such as hotel capacity, airports, healthcare facilities, digital infrastructure, and security protocols. Prime Minister Bah Oury met with the delegation, requesting an objective and critical assessment of the nation's capabilities. He emphasized that sports serve as a lever for development, aligning with the Simandou 2040 program.

Sports Minister Cellou Baldé noted that while initial impressions are positive, adjustments are required to meet evolving CAF requirements. The bid is viewed as a strategic opportunity to drive economic and social growth through investments in tourism, transport, and services.
