Guinean football administration and infrastructure

Guinea is experiencing significant developments in its football sector, involving both administrative elections and international hosting bids. The Guinean Football Federation (FGF) is approaching its elective General Assembly, with former president Mamadou Antonio Souaré emerging as a leading candidate against Mamady Doumbouya.

On the international stage, a delegation from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) arrived to evaluate Guinea’s readiness to host the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in 2032 or 2036. The assessment involves inspecting stadiums, hotel capacity, airports, and healthcare facilities. Prime Minister Bah Oury has framed the bid as a strategic lever for development, while Sports Minister Cellou Baldé noted that adjustments may be necessary to meet CAF requirements.

During the evaluation mission, officials inspected specific venues, including the 28 Septembre and Nongo stadiums. The scope of the assessment extends to digital infrastructure and security protocols. Prime Minister Bah emphasized that hosting the tournament aligns with the Simandou 2040 program, serving as a catalyst for economic and social development. The mission's findings will be decisive in determining if Guinea can manage the logistical and mobility demands required for the continental competition.
