Guinea Justice Minister denounces excessive judicial fees in Kankan

Guinean Justice Minister Ibrahima Sory II Tounkara has denounced excessive judicial transport fees at the Kankan Court of First Instance. During a visit on October 9, 2026, the minister addressed magistrates and judicial police officers, condemning disproportionate charges that penalize impoverished citizens.

To combat overcharging, Tounkara ordered the public display of official regulatory tariffs for all judicial and administrative acts, including criminal records, nationality certificates, and marriage or death certificates. He warned that judicial officials could be held accountable if they allow these abuses to continue and emphasized that fees must strictly adhere to the joint decree issued by the ministries of justice and finance.
