Guinea prepares for baccalaureate remedial exams amid fraud concerns

A remedial session for the baccalaureate exam is scheduled to begin on August 20, 2026, in Guinea. In the Dabola prefecture, 46 candidates are set to participate, including students specializing in experimental sciences, mathematics, and social sciences. Sékouba Aïssata Camara, the Prefectural Director of Education for Dabola, has issued strict guidelines for the session, including mandatory identity checks, prohibitions on mobile phones, and requirements for proper attire to ensure discipline and security.

Separately, former Minister of Pre-University Education and Literacy, Professor Bano Barry, has raised concerns regarding systemic vulnerabilities in Guinea’s national examination process. Highlighting issues such as subject leaks, fraudulent candidates, and distribution failures, Barry argued that these flaws create unfair competition and undermine the credibility of the evaluation system. He has called for deep reforms and the progressive digitalization of the examination process to prevent historical issues like subject leaks from recurring.
