Guinea President Mamadi Doumbouya ratifies infrastructure loan and tobacco company decree

Guinean President Mamadi Doumbouya has ratified a €300 million loan agreement aimed at modernizing the nation's road network. The agreement, signed with a consortium including the Bank of Africa United Kingdom, the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (BADEA), and the Bank of Africa, will fund several major infrastructure projects.

Key projects include the paving of 148.86 km of the Labé–Tougué national road, improvements to National Roads 27 and 28 (including the Banti–Koubia junction), and 11.443 km of work on National Road 3. The latter project also includes the construction of a 200-meter bridge over the Bafing River.

In a separate decree, President Doumbouya established the Société nationale du tabac (SNT), a state-owned enterprise with a capital of 100 billion Guinean francs (GNF). Headquartered in Conakry, the SNT will manage the entire tobacco value chain, from production and industrial transformation to the regulation of imports and exports. The company is tasked with improving product traceability and collaborating with customs and commerce ministries to combat smuggling and illegal sales.
