Guinean media receives new equipment and prepares for 5th annual awards

The Guinean media landscape is seeing significant developments through both institutional support and professional recognition. The Agence Guinéenne de Presse (AGP) has received new technical equipment, including cameras, microphones, drones, dictaphones, and computers. AGP Director General François Mara stated that these tools are intended to strengthen the agency’s capacity to collect, process, and distribute reliable and professional information.

Simultaneously, the 5th edition of the Médias Awards Guinée (MAG) has been launched in Conakry. Scheduled for November 27 and 28, 2026, the event will focus on the theme of print media as the foundation of modern journalism in Guinea. This year’s ceremony will honor the late Souleymane Diallo, founder of the satirical newspaper Le Lynx, by naming the Grand Prix after him. The awards aim to recognize excellence among 62 journalists and advocate for improved working conditions within the profession.
