Guiyang hosts World Climbing Series speed competition
The World Climbing Series speed climbing competition is set to take place in Guiyang, China, from September 11 to 13, 2026. This event marks the fifth stop of the seven-stage circuit, following previous competitions in Wujiang, Madrid, Krakow, and Chamonix.
Athletes will compete using the 4-lane competition format, which features simultaneous climbing to increase spectator appeal and competitive pressure. This format will be utilized in both individual races and relay events, including men's, women's, and mixed categories.
The Italian team will be represented by six athletes. The women's contingent includes European Champion Beatrice Colli and Giulia Randi. The men's team features Matteo Zurloni, Luca Robbiati, Ludovico Fossali, and Francesco Ponzinibio. They will face international competition, including Chinese climbers Yicheng Zhao and Jianguo Long, as well as American Samuel Watson.
