Gujarat air ambulance service nears 100 life-saving missions
Gujarat’s government-operated air ambulance service is approaching a milestone of 100 missions since its launch in 2022. To date, the 24/7 service has completed 98 missions, consisting of 48 patient transfers and 50 vital organ transportation operations.
Operated by the Civil Aviation Department and Gujarat State Aviation Infrastructure Company Limited (GUJSAIL), the service utilizes a dedicated Beechcraft King Air B200 aircraft. The initiative aims to strengthen emergency healthcare by reducing travel time for critically ill patients and facilitating time-sensitive organ transplants.
Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi stated that the service provides air medical transportation at subsidized rates and is available to citizens across India. The service coordinates with 108 Emergency Services, hospitals, and airport authorities to manage medical evacuations and urgent transfers.
