Gujarat CM disburses Rs 646 crore in student scholarships

Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has distributed over Rs 646 crore in financial assistance to more than 472,260 students through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). The disbursement took place during a ceremony at Swarnim Sankul in Gandhinagar.

A significant portion of the funds was allocated to female students. Under the ‘Namo Laxmi Yojana’, more than 4 lakh girls who passed their Class 10 and Class 12 board examinations received over Rs 513 crore. Additionally, the ‘Namo Saraswati Vigyan Sadhana Yojana’ provided more than Rs 28 crore to over 57,000 students who completed Class 12 in the science stream.

Another Rs 105 crore was distributed through various other scholarship and higher education schemes, including the Mukhyamantri Yuva Swavalamban Yojana and the Scheme of Developing High-Quality Research (SHODH). This included Rs 96 crore for 7,260 students and Rs 9 crore in grants to 48 institutions. Patel noted that the state's focus on education, health, and security aims to support the vision of promoting girls' education.
