Gujarat police crack down on gambling dens and counterfeit liquor factory
Police in Gujarat have conducted major operations against illegal gambling and counterfeit alcohol production. In Rajkot, coordinated raids by the Crime Branch, PCB, and local police across several locations, including Gandhi Society, Radhakrishnan Nagar, and Kharedi village, resulted in the arrest of 54 individuals, including 12 women. Authorities seized approximately 2.68 lakh rupees in cash from the gambling dens.
In a separate incident in Bhavnagar, the Local Crime Branch and Bortalav Police uncovered a counterfeit liquor factory operating out of a government quarter in the Hadanagar area. Three individuals, including a railway employee, were arrested. Police seized 17 bottles of counterfeit Royal Stag, stickers, sealing machines, and chemicals used in the production process. Investigations suggest the illicit materials were sourced from Rajasthan to produce and bottle the fake foreign liquor for local bootleggers.
