India illegal liquor crackdown

Indian authorities have intensified raids against illicit liquor networks across multiple states. On 29 July, Gujarat police seized about 5,978 bottles of Indian Made Foreign Liquor and beer worth over ₹1 crore in Jamnagar, arresting three people and issuing warrants for 13 others. The operation followed a similar seizure in Kutch earlier that month.

The following day, police in Punjab uncovered a concealed underground tank beneath a bedroom floor in Kapurthala district, extracting 270 litres of illegal liquor along with related equipment; one suspect was detained while another remains at large. In Madhya Pradesh, officers raided a house in Gadhakota district, confiscating 564.78 litres of both domestic and foreign spirits valued at roughly ₹4.04 lakh, with the property owner fleeing the scene and a case filed under the state excise act.

Together, these actions illustrate a coordinated, multi‑state effort to dismantle illegal liquor operations, resulting in large confiscations, arrests, and ongoing investigations.
