Gujarat Police Seize 540 Pentazocine Injections in Bharuch

On July 31, the Gujarat Police Anti‑Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) conducted a raid on a rented shop in Ansar market near the Medina Mosque in Bharuch district. Officers recovered 540 vials of the prohibited drug pentazocine lactate, valued at roughly ₹53,480, along with a mobile phone and cash. The raid resulted in the arrest of 31‑year‑old scrap dealer Sarfaraz Ahmed for possessing the injections without a valid prescription or permit.

The seizure is part of an ongoing operation under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act aimed at curbing illegal sales and trafficking of controlled substances. Police have also listed Mumbai resident Ashutosh Pandya as a wanted suspect and are continuing investigations to uncover a broader distribution network.
