Gujarat police drug and liquor seizures

Overview

The Gujarat Anti‑Narcotics Task Force and local law enforcement continued their crackdown on illegal substances and unlicensed goods through August 2026.

In early August, the State Monitoring Cell intercepted a truck on National Highway 27 in Banaskantha, seizing over 16,000 bottles of Indian Made Foreign Liquor worth approximately ₹1.05 crore. The operation, which included the recovery of cash and mobile phones, led to the arrest of two Rajasthan nationals, driver Omprakash Kakal and cleaner Jitendrakumar Kakal. Concurrently, in Kutch, the Special Operations Group of the Eastern Kutch Police seized assets worth ₹22.31 lakh linked to drug trafficker Pintu Vedanand (also known as Bedanand Yadav). This seizure, which included a house and three vehicles, marked the first use of the Drug Trafficking and Foreign Exchange Manipulation (Property Seizure) Act of 1976 in three years.

Later in August, enforcement actions expanded to include narcotics and unregulated consumer goods in Ahmedabad. The Food and Drug Control Administration (FDCA) raided ‘Anki Herbal’ in Tragad, discovering the unlicensed manufacturing and repackaging of cosmetics such as shampoos and fairness creams; the investigation has since extended to ‘Ravi Marketing’ in Odhav. Additionally, Ahmedabad city police arrested 22-year-old Naresh Sain in Naroda following a tip-off, seizing 234.01 grams of cocaine valued at an estimated ₹1.17 crore. Police are investigating two other individuals suspected of involvement in the procurement and supply of the narcotics.
