Gujarat Police seize over Rs 1.2 crore liquor and ₹22.3 lakh drug assets
The Gujarat Police’s State Monitoring Cell seized more than 16,000 bottles of Indian Made Foreign Liquor worth about Rs 1.05 crore during a raid on National Highway 27 in Banaskantha district. The operation, carried out under a village overbridge on the Thara‑Randhanpur stretch, also recovered a truck, mobile phones, cash and other items, bringing the total seized value to roughly Rs 1.20 crore. Two men from Rajasthan – driver Omprakash Kakal and cleaner Jitendrakumar Kakal – were arrested, and investigations continue to identify the broader supply network.
In a separate action in Kutch, Gujarat Police seized assets worth ₹22.31 lakh linked to drug trafficker Pintu Vedanand (also known as Bedanand Yadav). The seizure, the first under the Drug Trafficking and Foreign Exchange Manipulation (Property Seizure) Act of 1976 in three years, included a house valued at ₹15 lakh and three vehicles. The operation was directed by Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghvi and DGP G. S. Malik, and involved the Special Operations Group of Eastern Kutch Police.
