Gujarat weather alert: Red alert issued for heavy rainfall

Four weather systems are active over Gujarat, bringing heavy rainfall and thunderstorms expected to continue until August 15. The meteorological department has issued a red alert for Mahisagar and Panchmahal districts, warning of extremely heavy rainfall and advising residents to avoid unnecessary travel.

An orange alert has been issued for 13 districts, including Ahmedabad. Other regions such as Surendranagar, Narmada, Tapi, Dang, Kheda, Anand, Dahod, Vadodara, Arvalli, Botad, Chhota Udepur, and Gandhinagar are expected to experience moderate rainfall.

In Mahisagar, heavy rains have already caused flooding in several areas, including Suva village, where roads were submerged and 25 people were moved to safer locations. Winds of 30 to 40 km/h are also anticipated across various parts of North, Central, and South Gujarat during this period.
