Gun attacks in Cuautla and León, Mexico leave casualties and spark investigations
On June 26, 2026, two gunmen opened fire on a grocery store on Calle 16 de Septiembre in the Hermenegildo Galeana extension of Cuautla, Morelos. No injuries were reported. The suspects fled on a motorcycle, prompting a response from local police, the National Defense Secretariat and the National Guard, and an investigation by the regional prosecutor's office.
In a separate incident in León, Guanajuato, armed assailants entered the Nando's bar in the San Juan Bosco neighbourhood on a Tuesday night, killing owners Flora Solís, 50, and employee Paola Jazmín, 29, while a third patron sustained critical injuries. The bar was sealed by authorities, and the state prosecutor’s office continues to investigate the double homicide and motive.
