Gun violence incidents reported in Peru and Mexico

Separate violent incidents involving firearms were reported in Peru and Mexico.

In San Juan de Miraflores, Lima, three people were injured during a birthday celebration held under a street tent on Jirón Iquitos. According to police, criminals arrived on a motorcycle and opened fire on the attendees. The victims, including a woman, a Venezuelan national, and an elderly man, sustained gunshot wounds to the neck, femur, and hand. Criminal investigators recovered seven shell casings at the scene. Local residents expressed frustration, noting that loud parties and street closures are frequent at the residence where the attack occurred.

In Mexico City, a shootout in the Olivar de Santa María neighborhood of the Tláhuac borough resulted in two deaths. Authorities from the Secretaría de Seguridad Ciudadana responded to reports of gunfire on Pabellón Tricolor street, where they found one man dead and a second man who later died in the hospital. During the response, police intercepted a vehicle without license plates and detained two men, aged 19 and 31, who were allegedly attempting to transport a wounded individual. Two firearms were seized, and the suspects were turned over to the Public Ministry for investigation.
