Gurgaon police advise work‑from‑home as heavy rain threatens traffic

On July 8, Gurgaon police issued a traffic advisory for the Delhi‑NCR region because of ongoing heavy rain and forecasts of continued downpours. The advisory warned of possible water‑logging and congestion on major roads and urged corporate and private establishments to permit employees to work from home for the next few days to reduce vehicle traffic and aid emergency services.

The Meteorological Department had issued red and orange alerts for the area, predicting further intense rain and thunderstorms on July 9 and continued chances on July 10. In a related disruption, a lane of the Delhi‑Jaipur highway near Narsinghpur collapsed after Tuesday’s rain, closing two lanes and causing a 12‑km traffic jam that stranded thousands of vehicles.
