Gus Kikin appointed Chairman of PBNU for 2026–2031 term
KH Abdul Hakim Mahfudz, known as Gus Kikin, has been appointed as the General Chairperson of the Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) for the 2026–2031 term following the Ahlul Halli wal Aqdi (AHWA) deliberation. Upon his appointment, Gus Kikin signed a formal organizational contract (kontrak jam’iyyah) outlining five key commitments to ensure transparency and accountability.
These commitments include verifying his leadership track record, confirming he holds no political office or party affiliations, and stating he has never faced organizational sanctions. He also pledged to uphold the organization's integrity, provide written accountability reports, and comply with the decisions of the Rais Aam and the Syuriyah leadership. Gus Kikin has expressed willingness to accept organizational sanctions if any terms of the contract are violated.
Under his leadership, the organization faces several strategic priorities. Analysts suggest that Gus Kikin should focus on strengthening three key sectors: education, health, and the economy. This includes improving the quality of Nahdlatul Ulama universities, developing a robust healthcare ecosystem through hospitals, and fostering economic independence by developing the Nahdlatul Ulama-owned business entity (BUMNU).
