Overview

Following the 35th Muktamar of Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) in Jombang, East Java, the organization has established its leadership for the 2026–2031 term. Following the announcement, Gus Kikin met with President Prabowo Subianto at the State Palace to introduce the management team and strengthen synergy with the government. However, the transition has been marked by legal disputes regarding the Muktamar. PBNU Vice Chairman Saifullah Yusuf reported three individuals to the police to protect the organization’s reputation against unproven accusations. Simultaneously, HRM Khalilur R Abdullah Sahlawiy (Gus Lilur) filed a report with the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) alleging a pattern of vote-buying and illegal fund flows involving regional officials and potentially Minister Nusron Wahid.
