Gustavo Dudamel to Conduct Benefit Concert for Venezuela Earthquake Victims at Hollywood Bowl

Gustavo Dudamel, conductor of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, will lead “A Concert for Venezuela” on 23 August at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles. The event is organized with the LA Phil to raise money for families and communities affected by the twin earthquakes that struck Venezuela on 24 June, which caused at least 3,685 deaths and 16,740 injuries.

All proceeds will be directed to a recovery fund administered together with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean (CAF). The orchestra also pledged a $50,000 charitable donation. Dudamel said, “Venezuela will always be my home, and every moment my thoughts are with the families whose lives have been forever changed by this tragedy.” The concert will be his final appearance as music and artistic director of the LA Phil before assuming the same role with the New York Philharmonic.

Tickets are on sale, ranging from $22 to $270, with the program and guest artists to be announced later.
