Gustavo Germano's photography series opens in Córdoba

Photographer Gustavo Germano's acclaimed series, “Ausencias,” is opening this week in Córdoba, Argentina. The exhibition uses family photographs and modern reconstructions to explore the impact of forced disappearances during the military dictatorships in Argentina, Brazil, and Uruguay.

Since its inception in 2006, the project has focused on recreating past scenes with the original participants, highlighting the absence of those who were disappeared. This specific exhibition in Córdoba is held in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the start of the last Argentine civic-military dictatorship.

The exhibition will debut at the Casona Municipal and will subsequently move through three other cultural centers in the city. The event is a collaborative production between the Municipality of Córdoba, the Direction of Cultural Centers and Training, and the Goethe Institute Córdoba.
