Guwahati Police apprehended two Bangladeshi nationals at the Paltan Bazar Railway Station following a tip-off. During interrogation, the individuals confessed to entering India illegally via the Meghalaya border. They stated they were attempting to travel to West Bengal to seek employment.

Authorities recovered fake Aadhaar cards and Bangladeshi currency notes from the pair. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations) Kulendra Nath Deka stated that the individuals are in custody and that proceedings will be initiated under the Immigrants (Expulsion from Assam) Act, 1950, to expel them from India in the coming days.
