Guyana expands aviation cooperation with Uganda and Caribbean neighbors

Guyana and Uganda have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance technical cooperation in civil aviation. The agreement between the Guyana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) and the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA) focuses on knowledge sharing, safety surveillance, aircraft certification, and personnel training to improve regulatory standards in both nations.

In a separate regional effort, Caribbean states met in Guyana for a symposium organized by the CARICOM Secretariat and the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). The meeting focused on strengthening the Caribbean Aviation Safety and Security Oversight System (CASSOS). Participants worked on a roadmap through 2035 to address regulatory harmonization, financing, and the sustainability of civil aviation authorities across the region.
