Guyana to host IMC Over-40s World Cup cricket tournament

The second edition of the International Masters Cricket (IMC) Over-40s World Cup is scheduled to take place in Guyana from October 17 to 31. The tournament will feature 16 teams competing in 72 matches across 15 matchdays, with the final held at the Guyana National Stadium in Providence.

Defending champions South Africa are among the participating nations, which also include Australia, New Zealand, and Namibia. The West Indies will field two teams: a primary squad featuring players such as Ramnaresh Sarwan, Dinesh Ramdin, Llendl Simmonds, Raayad Emrit, and Jason Mohammed, and a second team named the Rest of the Caribbean.

Raj Singh, Chairman of the Cricket West Indies Masters Association, noted that the event is a self-funded arrangement where participating countries cover their own registration, airfare, and accommodation. Guyana President Irfan Ali has agreed to serve as the event's patron and will host the opening and closing ceremonies while assisting with security, transportation, and medical services. Former West Indies leg-spinner Samuel Badree has also endorsed the tournament, highlighting the growing interest in veterans’ cricket.
