Guyana to host IMC Over-40s World Cup cricket tournament

The International Masters Cricket (IMC) Over-40s World Cup is scheduled to take place in Guyana from October 17 to 31. The 16-nation tournament features two groups, with Group A including the hosts, South Africa, Australia, West Indies, Wales, Canada, Namibia, Sri Lanka, and Colombia.

Former West Indies captain Denesh Ramdin has been appointed captain of the West Indies squad, which includes former international player Ramnaresh Sarwan. Other notable members of the West Indies team include Rayad Emrit, Sewnarine Chattergoon, Jason Mohammed, and Devendra Bishoo. The West Indies are set to begin their campaign against Australia at the National Stadium in Providence.

Guyanese-born, Canada-based umpire Suresh Budhoo has been appointed as one of the officials for the tournament. Budhoo, who previously officiated at the IMC Over-60s World Cup in Canada and the inaugural Over-40s tournament in South Africa, expressed excitement about returning to Guyana for the prestigious competition.
