Guyana youth athletes secure major regional sports titles

Guyana has achieved significant success in regional youth sports competitions. In boxing, Guyanese athletes dominated the Caribbean Schoolboys and Juniors Boxing Championships held at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall. Guyana finished at the top of the medal table with eight gold and two silver medals, totaling 18 points. Additionally, Guyanese fighters secured all three best boxer honours.

In football, Guyana’s National Under-14 Boys’ team won the Caribbean Football Union (CFU) Under-14 Challenge Series Tier II title. Competing at the Cap Cana Sports City in the Dominican Republic, the team secured the championship after back-to-back penalty shootouts, including a decisive victory against Suriname following a comeback in the final match.
