Gwalior Telecom Manufacturing Zone draws ₹5,500 crore investment interest
The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) held an Investors’ Roundtable in Bengaluru to promote India’s domestic telecom manufacturing ecosystem. The discussions focused on the proposed Telecom Manufacturing Zone (TMZ) in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh.
Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav jointly chaired the session, which included leaders from the telecom, semiconductor, and electronics sectors. Scindia reported that 24 companies have already expressed interest, proposing investments totaling approximately ₹5,500 crore for the Gwalior TMZ.
To support these initiatives, the Madhya Pradesh government has prepared incentives and subsidies estimated at ₹8,000 crore. The government aims to foster research, development, and innovation while increasing domestic value addition and intellectual property within the country. A mechanism has been proposed to address investor queries regarding the zone within 48 hours.
