GWM and BYD drive growth in hybrid vehicle markets in Brazil and Germany
In Brazil, the GWM Haval H6 has emerged as the leading hybrid vehicle for the first half of 2026, recording 25,815 registrations. It has surpassed BYD models, specifically the Song Pro and Song Plus, which ranked second and third respectively. This shift occurs amid a massive expansion in the Brazilian electrified vehicle market; data from the Brazilian Association of Electric Vehicles (ABVE) shows that 215,023 light electrified vehicles were sold in the first half of 2026, a 125% increase compared to the previous year.
Simultaneously, BYD is seeing significant success in the European market. In Germany, the BYD Song Plus (sold as the Seal U DM-i) was the top-selling plug-in hybrid for July, marking its second consecutive month in the lead. BYD's total registrations in Germany reached 5,245 in July, representing a 358.5% increase compared to July 2025 and a 1.95% market share.
