GWM launches Brazil's first hydrogen-powered truck, targeting R$20 million sales by 2026

Chinese automaker GWM has introduced Brazil's first hydrogen‑fuel‑cell truck through its subsidiary GWM Hydrogen. The vehicle, equipped with a 544 hp electric motor, a 105 kWh battery and carbon‑fiber tanks holding up to 40 kg of green hydrogen, offers an estimated 500 km range and a gross weight of 49 tonnes. Its inaugural fueling took place at the Senai Cimatec Park in Camaçari (Bahia), where renewable hydrogen is produced.

GWM projects revenue of R$20 million from sales of the trucks in 2026, rising to R$200 million in 2027, and is already negotiating with seven private companies and technology centres in Brazil and across South America. The company also offers retrofit kits to convert diesel trucks to hydrogen‑fuel‑cell power and plans to connect buyers to Brazil's emerging hydrogen‑refueling network, currently present in São Paulo, Minas Gerais, Bahia and Pernambuco.
