GWM Ora 5 sparks premium resale prices amid strong demand in Brazil
Great Wall Motors' Ora 5 electric SUV launched in Brazil at a list price of R$159,000 and sold out its initial 2,000‑unit batch within 24 hours. A second tranche of 1,000 units followed, but waiting times now exceed 150 days. Dealers and independent sellers are listing the vehicle for up to R$20,000 above the official price, with some online ads showing prices above R$180,000.
The Ora 5 is equipped with a 204‑horsepower front‑motor, a 58‑kWh LFP battery delivering a 349‑km range (per Inmetro), and fast‑charging capability that reaches 30‑80 % in 20 minutes. It also offers Vehicle‑to‑Load power of up to 6 kW and a high‑tech interior with multiple large digital displays. Separately, GWM announced that sport‑styled versions of the Ora 5 – the “Sport” and “GT” – will be introduced in China, featuring bicolor paint, larger wheels and aerodynamic kits, though pricing and performance changes have not been confirmed.
