GWM to launch Cannon Hi4-T PHEV ute in Australia
GWM has confirmed the upcoming launch of the Cannon Hi4-T PHEV in Australia, positioning it to be one of the country's most affordable plug-in hybrid utility vehicles. The new model will complement the existing, larger Cannon Alpha Hi4-T, making GWM the first manufacturer in Australia to offer two separate PHEV ute model lines.
The Cannon Hi4-T features a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine paired with an electric motor, producing a combined 310kW of power and 750Nm of torque. It utilizes GWM's proprietary Hi4-T intelligent hybrid technology, which integrates electrification with a traditional mechanical four-wheel drive system.
The vehicle is equipped with a 33.1kWh battery, providing a claimed 115km of electric-only driving range (NEDC) and a total combined range of 1,037km. Additional features include a 3,500kg braked towing capacity and Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capability, which provides 230V power outlets in the vehicle tub. Specific Australian pricing and an exact launch date have not yet been announced.
