Gyanesh Kumar visits Gujarat to promote electoral transparency

Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar is conducting a two-day official visit to Gujarat focused on the theme ‘Transparency from Roll to Poll’. The visit marks his first trip to the state since assuming his role as the head of the Election Commission of India.

During the tour, Kumar engaged with various stakeholders, including Booth Level Officers (BLOs), members of Electoral Literacy Clubs (ELCs), and academic leaders. At Gujarat University, he met with approximately 500 BLOs to discuss their role in maintaining electoral transparency. He also interacted with over 1,000 ELC members to promote democratic values and electoral awareness among young citizens.

The CEC emphasized the commission's goal to ensure every Indian citizen aged 18 and above is a registered voter. He encouraged the use of the ‘ECINET’ digital platform, which provides election-related services in English and 22 scheduled languages. The visit also included cultural engagements, such as paying tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at Sabarmati Ashram and visiting the Adalaj Stepwell.
