Gyeonggi Province implements winter safety measures

Gyeonggi Province is launching several initiatives to enhance public safety ahead of the winter season. The province is introducing a first-of-its-kind ‘road icing analysis system’ starting in November. This AI and big data-driven system analyzes meteorological data, such as temperature, humidity, and road surface temperature, to predict icing risks on local roads. The system will allow real-time information sharing with local municipalities and police to facilitate preemptive salt spraying and patrols.

In addition to road safety, Gyeonggi Province and the Gyeonggi Provincial Assembly conducted fire prevention inspections at the Gumaetan Traditional Market in Suwon. Officials inspected electrical and fire safety facilities and distributed high-capacity multi-taps to reduce fire risks caused by increased heating device usage. The province will activate a 24-hour emergency management system starting November 15 to respond to heavy snow and cold waves.
