Gyeonggi Province public safety initiatives
Overview
Gyeonggi Province has undertaken various infrastructure and technological measures to enhance public safety. In response to high volumes of emergency reports regarding jumping and falling accidents at specific locations, the provincial construction headquarters completed the installation of enhanced safety railings on three bridges in Yangpyeong and Yeoju. These upgrades included increasing railing heights and installing rotating structures to deter climbing.
Additionally, the province is preparing for the winter season by introducing an AI and big data-driven ‘road icing analysis system’ to predict icing risks and facilitate preemptive salt spraying. Other seasonal safety efforts include fire prevention inspections at the Gumaetan Traditional Market and the activation of a 24-hour emergency management system to respond to heavy snow and cold waves.
