Gyeonggi Province wins 5th consecutive title at 107th National Sports Festival

Gyeonggi Province secured its fifth consecutive overall victory at the 107th National Sports Festival held in Jeju. With a total score of 67,273 points, the province outperformed competitors from Gyeongbuk and Seoul. Notable achievements included a 26th consecutive win in judo, five consecutive wins in bowling and tennis, and a return to the top in athletics and rowing after seven years.

Following the competition, Gyeonggi Sports Council President Lee Won-seong emphasized the need to prevent the outflow of talented athletes to other regions by expanding budgets and improving training environments. He highlighted the importance of cooperation between the province and the Office of Education to upgrade facilities, such as the Gyeonggi Physical Education High School, and to secure corporate sponsorships for athlete development.

Meanwhile, the Seoul delegation finished in third place overall, earning 343 medals, including 109 gold. Seoul maintained strong performances in mountain climbing and basketball, both of which secured their fourth consecutive overall wins in those specific disciplines. Individual standout Lee Won from Seoul Physical Education High School won four gold medals in swimming.
