South Korean regional sports and cultural festivals conclude and commence

Various regional sports and cultural events are taking place across South Korea. In Gyeongju, the 2026 Hwarangdaegi National Youth Soccer Tournament concluded after 16 days, hosting 789 teams and approximately 15,000 participants across 2,400 matches.

In Gapyung, the 37th Gyeonggi-do Sports Festival for Citizens concluded with 21,600 participants competing in 29 disciplines. Suwon and Icheon were recognized for their high performance. Meanwhile, the Jeju delegation achieved a record-breaking 112 medals at the 46th National Para Games, including a new Korean record in the men’s 100m x 4R T35–T38 relay.

In Goyang, the 2026 Goyang Cup Youth Soccer Tournament has commenced, featuring 119 teams and 1,500 players. Additionally, Andong is hosting the 2026 Gyeongbuk K-Story Festival, which includes a special exhibition of works by legendary comic artists from the Gyeongbuk region to promote the local story industry.
