Gyeongju hosts Hangeul celebration camp for students

To commemorate the 100th anniversary of the establishment of Hangeul Day, the ‘2026 Gyeongju Family Love Hangeul Love Camp’ was held in Gyeongju from October 9 to 10. The event, hosted by Gyeongju City, brought together 100 students ranging from fourth grade elementary to third grade middle school.

The camp featured a special lecture by Professor Shin Byeong-ju of Konkuk University, who provided historical context regarding King Sejong the Great and the creation of Hunminjeongeum. Students participated in various hands-on activities, including making Hangeul-themed eco-bags and keyrings, a ‘Hangeul Golden Bell’ quiz, and traditional language-based athletic games.

In addition to educational sessions, the program included entertainment such as magic shows and a visit to Gyeongju World to provide students with a recreational experience.
