Gyeongsangbuk-do partners with Chinese broadcasters to promote regional tourism
Gyeongsangbuk-do province is collaborating with Chinese broadcasters Liaoning TV and Jiangsu TV to promote local tourism. Between August 31 and September 3, production teams visited Gyeongju, Mungyeong, and Andong to film historical sites, cultural heritage, local cuisine, and various experience programs.
The resulting special programs are scheduled to air in China during September and October in the high-viewership 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM time slot. Liaoning TV reaches an audience of approximately 41 million in Northeast China, while Jiangsu TV serves a population of about 85 million in the eastern region.
This initiative aims to expand the influx of Chinese tourists, who accounted for 5.48 million visits to South Korea last year. Governor Lee Cheol-woo noted that the province intends to leverage the momentum from the APEC summit to strengthen cultural and tourism exchanges between Gyeongsangbuk-do and China.
